Do both partners need to download the app?
Yes — Nuzzle is built for two. Both partners download the app, and one person creates the shared creature. You'll get a QR code (or a simple invite link) to connect your partner's account. Setup takes about 3 minutes. Both of you are covered under the single $29.99/year subscription.
What if my partner isn't interested?
Start with the Free tier. Your creature will still respond to your solo check-ins, and many partners come around once they see the creature evolving — especially when you share your screen. There's no pressure, no streak punishment, and no notification spam sent to your partner without consent.
Does it work for long-distance couples?
Absolutely — Nuzzle was partly designed with long-distance in mind. The Simultaneous Touch feature lets both partners press their screens at the same moment for a shared pulse. Mood check-ins, appreciation pebbles, and conversation cards all work asynchronously across time zones. The creature bridges distance beautifully.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Nothing changes. Your relationship data lives in your Google Drive folder — not ours. When you cancel your Premium subscription, you lose access to Premium features but your data stays exactly where it was, forever. If you want to delete everything, just delete your Google Drive folder. That's it. We have no copy.
Is there a free trial for Premium?
The Free plan is effectively your unlimited trial — there's no time limit, and it includes the core features. If you want to try Premium before committing, watch for our seasonal trial offers. We occasionally run 2-week full-access windows, especially around Valentine's Day and anniversaries.
What devices does it support?
Nuzzle is a Flutter app available on iOS (iPhone, requires iOS 15+) and Android (requires Android 10+). Both partners can use different platforms — iOS and Android work together seamlessly. A web companion for sending pebbles and viewing your creature from a browser is on our roadmap.
Do you use the Gottman Institute's official content?
Nuzzle is independently developed and is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Gottman Institute. Our features are inspired by and grounded in the publicly available research of Dr. John and Dr. Julie Gottman, which spans 40+ years of peer-reviewed studies. We read the papers, built interpretations of the principles, and wrapped them in game design that actually gets used.
